About

As a youthful college graduate I had already written my life’s “How To” books: How To Achieve a Spectacular Marriage; How To Raise Perfect Children; How to Establish a Thriving Career. I had all the answers.

Then life began in earnest. Plan A became plan B and then C, D and E. My “answers” seemed more like platitudes with no connection to reality and the real education began.

Some fortunate few seem born wise. The rest of us acquire wisdom through experience – with poor choices and wrenching struggles being the most powerful teachers.

While you may not find the perfect “How To’s” here, perhaps you will find a soft landing for a moment, gain a fresh perspective, or stir up a fond memory. Welcome to Wisdom Over Youth.

Good judgment comes from experience
Experience comes from bad judgment

I have proved that couplet more times than I care to count. Were it not for my love of reading and the advice of mentors and friends, the number would be much higher.

This website was born of the desire to try and pay it forward. Time may bring wrinkles, sags and bags but it also brings a degree of hard-won wisdom, resilience and a sense of humor – especially when it comes to the family and friends we love.

So while you may not find answers to life’s toughest questions here, I hope it serves as a welcome detour occasionally.
